BYK enhances German additive plant capacity
Kailin Chemical Recently, BYK Chemical Co., Ltd., an additive and instrument supplier of Altana, a German specialty chemicals group, will invest USD 50 million to upgrade the production capacity of its Gonzalez plant in Germany.
BYK Chemicals plans to enhance the capacity and performance of its core portfolio in its portfolio, especially Garamite, a natural rheological additive. The company explained that the product has a thickening effect and can replace other solutions. For example, Garamite can be applied to light-weight construction of vehicles for coatings, in line with the core trend car manufacturers are committed to reducing carbon emissions.
The expansion plan includes several upgrades to the plant's infrastructure and the launch of a new R & D project to build a natural rheology global technology center.
In addition, BYK Chemical also invested in China. The company broke ground in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in July and set up new facilities. The Connecticut-based company has spent more than $ 30 million to build an integrated facility that combines research and development, technical services, logistics and management functions. At the same time, it will also lay the foundation for the company's continued expansion in Greater China and the entire Asia Pacific region.
The facility will be put into operation by the second half of 2018 as scheduled.
