Eni Found Large Amounts Of Natural Gas And Condensate On The Coast Of The Niger Delta

- Oct 10, 2019-

According to the oil and gas news on October 8th, Eni Group through its subsidiary company NAOC (Eni as a carrier 20%, NNPC 60%, Oando 20%), Obiafu-Obrikom in the OML61 block of the Niger Delta A large amount of natural gas and condensate were found in the deep oil fields.

Obiafu-41 found a large number of oil and gas and condensate gas reservoirs in the Oligocene delta sequence. The well has a total depth of 4.374 meters, including high-quality hydrocarbon-bearing sandstones above 130 meters. In the deep drilling layer, natural gas was found with 60 million barrels of condensate. This finding has further potential and will be evaluated in the next assessment.

The well can transport more than 100 million cubic meters per day of standard natural gas and 3,000 barrels per day of associated condensate and will be put into production immediately to increase NAOC's natural gas production.

The discovery is part of a drilling program planned by the NAOC joint venture to explore the potential of near-field and deep reservoirs as an instant access to the market.

Eni has been operating in Nigeria since 1962 and has carried out a total of 30049 square kilometers of operational and non-operational production, development and exploration activities in the onshore and offshore areas of the Niger Delta. In 2018, Eni's oil and gas production was 100,000 barrels per day.
